For this recipe, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 1/4 pack of Green Caviar – Umibudo Sea Grapes
- 2 cups Sushi Short-Grained Sticky White Rice
- 2 cups Water (For Cooking Rice)
- 1 whole Carrot
- 1 whole Cucumber
- 1 whole Avocado
- 6 Tablespoons Rice Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 teaspoons Sugar
- 5 pieces Seaweed (Nori) Sheets
- 5 Tablespoons Roasted Sesame Seeds
- Soy Sauce And Wasabi, To Serve
To make delicious vegan sushi rolls with our sea grapes you’ll need to first wash rice by adding water to a container. Let the rice soak a few minutes, then wash the rice using your hands in a circular motion for about 20 seconds, repeat this twice. Add your now cleanly washed rice to a pot and add 2 cups of water. Place the lid on top of your pot and turn heat to the maximum.
As soon as the rice wtaer starts boiling, reduce the flame to the lowest setting, then let the rice water simmer for 30 minutes or so. Afer half an hour, turn off the heat and let the rice sit in the pot for a few minutes to let cool.
Cut all your veggies into long thin slices and steam the carrot slices for around 5 minutes to make them a little softer. Now the time for sushi dressing has come. For this mix vinegar, salt and sugar in a small bowl and let the sugar and salt dissolve. Once dissovled add the sushi rice vinegar into your rice.
Now for the really fun part, rolling sushi! Lay out your Nori seaweed sheets on a flat cutting board, make sure it’s dry! Lay out the sushi rice thinly onto the seaweed sheets and sprinkle some black sesame seeds onto it. To the edge of your sheet, add cucumber, carrot and avocado slices abd start rolling!
You can add the delicious green caviar, also known as sea grapes, either into your sushi roll or use it as garnish on top. Then simply slice your sushi rolls into 1-inch/2cm pieces and serve with some soy sauce and spicy wasabi. Makes about 8 rolls, each topped with the exotic sea grapes!
