How to brew the perfect cup of butterfly pea tea

Bluechai tea can be brewed in various ways, we usually recommend a steeping time of 3-8 minutes depending on the intensity of the blue color you wish to achieve. That being said, it is also possible to do a cold brew with Bluechai.

On the right you’ll see an example of how Bluechai tea looks like after being steeped for 3 minutes.

For cocktails and food coloring we recommend using blue matcha, which is like Bluechai tea, but consists of micro-powdered organic blue tea – this way the blue pigments are released much faster which allows for even better hot/cold breweing and thus can be used directly on alcoholic beverages (or mocktails!) without having to brew a tea first.

  1. Place approx. 2g or 1-2 teaspoons of your Bluechai tea in a mug, rinse and pour 250ml of boiling water onto the Bluechai tea.
  2. Steep for 3-8 minutes depending on the intensity and flavor desired, then enjoy either hot or let cool and add ice cubes, honey and lemon juice. Good for 2 flavorful brews!
  3. Adding lemon juice changes the color of the the from blue to pink, that is for all our color-changing teas that contain either butterfly pea flower, blue mallow flowers or black goji berries. Enjoy!
